The Industrial Electrical Company of Khorasan (Afsharnejad) was established in 1345 (1966) in the holy city of Mashhad, and in 1346 (1967), it became one of the earliest manufacturers of cables and wires in Iran and commenced operations.
The history of cable and wire manufacturing dates back to the year 1880 AD, which means it has been more than 130 years since its inception in the world.
The history of cable and wire in Iran dates back to the years after 1905 when the first electric factory was established in Tehran. Initially, all the required cables and wires were imported from abroad, but later on, bitumen-coated cables, fabric-insulated wires, and Bakelite wires were produced in Iran.
After World War II, the late Ali Afsharnejad, the founder of the Industrial Electrical Company of Khorasan, who was a distributor of electrical supplies in Tehran’s Laleh-Zar area and Mashhad’s Arg (citadel), initiated the production of the first bitumen-coated electrical wires in Mashhad. Later, the Industrial Electrical Company of Khorasan was established in 1345 (1966).
In the early days of its establishment, the Industrial Electrical Company of Khorasan used an Italian production line to insulate copper stranded wires. They coated the wires with PVC granules imported from Japan. Several years later, this activity was further developed, and under the supervision and continued collaboration with Japan, cable production technology was acquired and implemented.
